Strava.com is the app I use for tracking my biking, kayaking and walking. The app is fast, easy to use, captures solid data, has a social element to it, and has great marketing. For me data is king and displaying it in engaging ways is the queen. Together they rule supreme. Strava has such a relationship with it’s heatmap. The heatmap gives you a visual representation of all your rides in one map. For me, it’s akin to a coloring book. I pick a neighborhood and color in all the roads. I can see how certain people may not want to track their activity. I’m thinking spies or operatives on hidden lairs. But for me, the fun of coloring in a neighborhood and even an entire township, is the motivation I need to keep at it.
